What’s The Buzz On The Fuzz?
Fuzz was formed back in 1993 as a six-piece funk, blues and fusion cover band. The two-piece horn section soon fattened into a four-piece and the musical scope of the band widened to encompass a more eclectic sound. While the band members have changed over the years, the eight-piece format – drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, two trumpets, sax, and trombone – has remained consistent and now covers rock, dance, Top 40, R&B, Motown and the funky hits of the 70s.
Here’s what the press has to say:
Performing tonight was a band called Fuzz, an 8-piece band with a vast catalog of songs from the 60s to the 90s. The band was formed by guitarist Ken Walden in 1993 along with his wife Gail Walden, who also plays drums for the group. In the first set, Fuzz had the entire dance floor singing and dancing. Some of the songs played were "Signed Sealed Delivered", "Superstition" and Brick House". The band also played disco, funk and some R&B.
Band member Dante Fiorio played some slick organ and piano and also doubled as lead singer on quite a few tunes. Additionally, on tenor saxophone, Mike Parrinello showed that he has what it takes to get the crowd going. He sings as well. The bass player kept the rhythm section tight while drummer Gail Walden played some interesting fills and beats, her timing impeccable. The band also featured Steve O'Leary on trombone, Rob Rodefeld on trumpet and Joey DeAngelo also on trumpet and vocals. Most members of the band also sing.
During a brief intermission I spoke with the band and got all the cool news about their plans for the future. The band plans on playing the circuit on Long Island and will continue to play the strong cover music that their fans obviously enjoy hearing. I highly recommend everyone check out this band and I guarantee you'll have a great time because Fuzz aims to please.
